It takes just 57 seconds to learn how to be nice to our golf course. Click on the video below to learn how to properly fix your next ball mark on the green. (While you are there, you might as well fix a couple of them).
Please join the USGA in our campaign to stamp out long playing times and end slow play. When you sign the pledge, you will be enrolled in a six-part educational program that will teach you the fundamental causes of slow play and suggest ways to improve your personal pace of play.
Click here to sign the pledge.
* As one who loves golf, I understand my critical role in improving pace of play.
* I will examine my own habits on the golf course to identify ways that I can pick up the pace.
* I will Tee It Forward and play from the set of tees best suited to my driving distance, in an effort to speed up play and have more fun.
* I will practice “ready golf†during stroke play; I will hit when I am ready to play, but only when it is safe to do so.
* I will serve as an example for those around me and I will strive to inspire and guide my fellow golfers to improve their pace of play.
* I understand that golf course design and setup can affect pace of play, and I promise to support those who manage the facilities where I play to find solutions for optimizing pace of play.
* I will seek out a golf professional to help me improve my game and my pace of play.
* I will embrace opportunities to play nine holes when my schedule doesn’t allow for an 18-hole round.
* I will encourage others to take the Pace of Play Pledge, for the good of the game.
* I will play more quickly, play better and have more fun!
On Sunday, June 30, 2013, the Nine & Dine event has been cancelled, due to lack of interest. If you entered, then you may retrieve your check from the Pro Shop.
the CCMGA will be sponsoring a Nine & Dine event.
Dates:
Friday, June 21 at 5:00pm – Pairings Party
Saturday, June 22 at 1:00pm – Shotgun (Best Ball)
Sunday, June 23 at 1:00pm – Shotgun (Singles)
Players will be randomly divided into two countries, the “The PORT Union” and the “STARBOARD States of America“. Each country will be divided into flights of 12 players, based on similar handicaps. A Captain will be chosen for each flight.
The Friday Night Pairings Party
This is when the trash talking begins. We will be meeting in the Ellsworth Pavilion at Captains to set up twosomes to play Four-Ball matches (a.k.a Best Ball) on Saturday. A cash bar and refreshments will be served.
The Saturday Four-Ball Matches
The pairings established at the Friday Night Party will meet on the battlefield in Four-Ball (or Best Ball) matches playing off the low handicap in the foursome. One point will be awarded to the team that wins the match. (Just like the Ryder Cup!) Matches tied after 18 holes will be award one-half point to each team.
Saturday Cookout
Then there is food as we tabulate the day’s results. The team Captains will once again set up new pairing for their flights for the Sunday Singles Matches.
The Sunday Singles Matches
Pure match play excitement as you alone are pitted against a single opponent. Once again, one point will be award for the match (or one-half point each if tied after 18 holes).
The Sunday Results & Refreshments
While we are tabulating the results, you will be served butlered hors d’ouevres (see Friday night menu), along with a cash bar.
ENTER TODAY
You can enter at the Captains Pro Shop. A complimentary team hat is included, along with carts for each day, and food all three days.
